Medical care at Lake of the Ozarks has never been better. Lake Regional Health System continues to grow and expand healthcare services to meet the needs of the Lake Area. The 400,000 square-foot hospital rivals its counterparts in metropolitan areas with state-of-the-art technology and eighty highly skilled physicians on staff. In addition to Lake Regional Hospital, Lake Regional Health System provides services in 15 locations. These include medical clinics, rehab therapy sites, pharmacies, and home health care.
Lake Regional Hospital is a past winner of the coveted Missouri Quality Award, given in recognition for distinction in quality leadership and based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria for Performance Excellence. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The Emergency Department is designated a Level III Trauma Center by the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
The new 100,000 square foot East Tower opened in November 2005 and features a 35-bed Emergency Department, 40 private patient rooms and three surgery suites. The third floor will be held in reserve for future patient rooms.
Lake Regional offers comprehensive cardiac, oncology, orthopedic, obstetrics and gynecology, and ophthalmology programs, among others. There is an 18-bed Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit and a 22-bed Stepdown Unit designed for patients progressing in their recovery from the ICU/CCU.
The physicians on Lake Regional Hospital's cardiac care team offer a complete range of heart care. The cardiologists can place cardiac and peripheral stents, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and pacemakers. They perform digital cardiac catheterizations in the hospital's two high-tech cardiac catheterization labs as well as coronary rotablation, angiography and angioplasty. Should the need arise, Lake Regional Hospital has board-certified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons on staff who perform open heart surgery, valve replacement and vascular surgery.
Lake Regional Health System intensified its commitment to its oncology program with the 2004 opening of the Center for Radiation Therapy and the 2005 addition of the Oncology Services Clinic, offering chemotherapy and treatment for cancer patients. By offering both chemotherapy and radiation therapy, Lake area cancer patients no longer have to travel long distances to receive these treatments.
Many area residents enjoy serving the community by helping the Lake Regional Hospital Foundation with the annual HK's Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament. The tournament raised $125,000 in 2005 with the proceeds benefiting the Oncology Services Clinic. Other residents join the award-winning Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
